Mint Fierce

It’s Tuesday, and I need a drink. Since it was like a million degrees in Napa this weekend, I’ve been non-stop drooling daydreaming about this fabulous concoction the fabulous Kortni fabulously created. The name is a combination of an inside joke of ours, and the delicious and unobtrusive mint flavor. I suppose tonight’s the perfect night to bring my dreams to life. After work, that is.

Kortni is so amazing, that she actually brought this tasty and refreshing beverage to me in a water bottle upon my (stress-filled) arrival to the airport in Portland. Read all about our adventure here! She really, really is the best.

The secret ingredient is rose lemonade. I know, rose lemonade? But seriously, it ties everything together. It’s made by Fentimans, a brand I’d never heard of before. I was ecstatic to find out that I can buy Fentimans’ beverages in Napa! Here’s for a listing by state. They also make other interesting and very tasty flavors (dandelion and burdock– what?), all of which I’m excited to try.

Fresh mint from Kortni’s clippings!

I could be happy with just these two ingredients and vodka. But we’ll continue..

These are to be mashed and mashed!

Nice and frothy.

Ingredients

  • 6 blackberries
  • 6 mint leaves
  • 5 ice cubes
  • 2.5 oz. vodka
  • 1 oz. lemonade
  • 2.5 oz rose lemonade

Directions

  1. In a shaker, muddle blackberries and mint.
  2. Add ice cubes, vodka, lemonade, and rose lemonade. Shake until well-combined and chilled.
  3. Strain, using a sieve, and pour into two glasses, and garnish with mint and/or a blackberry.

Makes two servings.

What I love about this drink, is that it’s so light and refreshing! The lemonades and blackberry add just a hint of sweetness and it doesn’t taste boozy. This could easily be made in a larger batch to be served at parties or a summertime picnic. When we ran out of rose lemonade, we substituted other juices to create new cocktails.

About In Natalie's Shoes

I’m a twenty-something food fanatic. By day, I’m working for a non-profit, by night I’m dreaming of becoming a domestic goddess, creating adorable crafts to gift and engineering delicious home cooked meals for the fabulous dinner parties I’ll one day throw. I love to travel, locally, regionally… heck, even internationally, I don’t discriminate too much when it comes to a new destination. I am a little obsessed with taking photos of the food I eat, whether I make it or pay to eat it. It is my firm belief that a girl can never have enough purses or too many shoes. I plan to fill this lovely little blog with my adventures in food, travel, and craftiness. I hope you enjoy!
