May Foodie Pen Pals

Happy Friday, y’all! I’ve had a very busy and exciting past few days. Most noteworthy is that I’m moving into a new apartment that happened to be my first choice of all apartment options! I’m quite happy to be living with one of my best friends and enjoying the fabulous fireplace– I’ve never had one before– and two bathrooms. Such a luxury for two chicks!

This month, I received a package from Elena at The Sweetness of Joy. Elena is on a mission to document her journey to conquer her sweet tooth and enjoy the sweet things that life has to offer, and often blogs about health and fitness– something we could all use, am I riiiiiiight? I think Ms. Elena must have done some research on me, because she KILLED IT with the goodies she sent me! I could tell right away that a lot of thought was put into what she picked out for me (heaps of peanut butter and chocolate items!), and I totally appreciate it.

Bienvenido a Miami!

“Party in the city where the heat is on, all night, on the beach till the break of dawn,” Will Smith couldn’t have described my trip to Miami any more accurately. During my long weekend in Miami for my cousin’s bachelorette party, we pretty much ate and drank our way through beaches, restaurants, and clubs. After being welcomed by the sight of palm trees, we stocked up for the weekend at Total Wine & More (for all you west coasters, like a BevMo) and Publix (a grocery chain) where I stumbled upon the world’s hugest avocado (below). The next few days, we sunbathed on a gorgeous beach at our condo, and discovered which foods I can add to my “hangover cure” list (following Perrier with lime, scrambled eggs and English muffins with heaps of butter, in case you’re wondering).

20130516-165506.jpgWe clubbed, we ate, and yes, we drank. Pretty successful weekend, if you ask me. I’ve conjured up a list of my favorite places that I’d go back to in a heartbeat.

Guest Post: Good Wine, Great Food, and a World Famous Tourist Attraction! Pisa

Italy has always been one of those countries. You know, the kind that is on your list to visit “some day”. It’s somewhere between Russia, Ireland, and Switzerland, for me. I’d never really given much thought as to which cities I’d visit, or what I’d really want to see when I make it to Italy. After reading about Hayley’s experience in Pisa on her blog Life as a Butterfly, it’s turned into one of those countries I want to visit some day SOON, with Pisa as the star of the show. Pizza, pasta, and wine? Awesome views of an ancient city? I’d be one very, very happy girl. You’ll see what I mean when you peruse Hayley’s photos and adventures from her trip to Pisa, Italy.

My Very First Coachella

It’s been a little over three weeks since I experienced my first Coachella Valley Music Festival (just “Coachella” for you cool kids). Obvi, I survived and thankfully didn’t end up with any serious injuries. More than what I can say for at least one person in our campsite. I researched what to expect and what to pack quite diligently in an effort that I wouldn’t be totally unprepared. I’m proud to say that most of my preparation was useful, while what was not directly useful likely warded off any “if you don’t have it, you’ll need it” issues.
