Guest Post: Heather’s October Foodie Pen Pals

Howdy everyone! As I mentioned in my October Foodie Pen Pals post this morning, Heather wrote up a guest post for me to put on here, since she doesn’t have a blog (YET!). Heather is currently preparing for a fitness competition, and therefore isn’t eating refined grains, sweets or dried fruit currently. She follows a high protein, moderate carbohydrate diet. She’s also a registered dietitian and currently resides in Michigan. Let’s all say hello to Heather!

After a long day of work outs, work and class, what a pleasant surprise it was to receive my October Foodie Pen Pals box from Natalie. This is my first time participating in the Foodie Pen Pals program (which, as I’m learning, is the coolest idea ever!) and so I wasn’t sure what to expect.

October Foodie Pen Pals

Happy Halloween! In case you were wondering, I’ll be dressing up as a Gamer Babe from Half Moon Bay Napa, in honor of my World Series champs. I’m also seriously wishing I could be at the parade in San Francisco today!

Over the last few weeks, it’s been acting like autumn (off and on) in the Bay Area, and I’m loving it. Not only is autumn my favorite season, but it’s also my favorite time to bake and be crafty!

Speaking of baking, I was really excited to see what I got in my October Foodie Pen Pals package from Tabitha earlier this month!

Yay! Mail!

I’m a Jetsetter Celebrity

Happy Wednesday, everyone! We’re halfway through the week, woo!

Remember how last week I mentioned that I was going to be a featured jetsetter on The Lazy Travelers? Well, last night, The Romantic and The Wino posted my answers to their jetsetter questions! Check it out here! I’m totally famous now. I’ll be cheersing this lovely honor later this evening, if any of you care to join. Champers to celebrate, anyone? You’ll be able to read about my favorite and least favorite hostel experiences, see my favorite travel picture, learn what my favorite meal is (okay, who am I kidding, it’s meals) and more!

Be sure to check out their website, to follow them on Twitter, and if you’re on Facebook, like them! These girls always crack me up, provide amazing travel insight and advice, and most importantly, love a bottle of wine or five.

Meet the Romantic and the Wino.

And on that note, don’t forget to follow me on Twitter, too! Keeping my posts under 140 characters is usually a lot easier than planning out a whole post full of thoughts and photos. So you get to read me more often, something I know you’re dyyyying to do!

A Travel, Food, and Craft Update

This week’s post consists of updates and news.

I “traveled” (all 60 minutes driving time) to San Francisco on Saturday for the Treasure Island Music Festival. What a blast! Here are some photos from my adventure!

The ladies at The Lazy Travelers have inspired me, once again. This time it was to create a “Where I’ve Traveled” page on my blog, extremely similar to their “Where We’ve Been” page. You should go check out some of the awesome places The Romantic and The Wino have been! I found out I’ve been to 18 states in America. I can’t decide if I think that having visited 36% of my nation’s states is a decent amount for being in my 20s. I think I need to change that soon!

Kate at Words for Worms nominated me for both a Liebster Award and a Sunshine Award! Thanks for thinking I’m award-worthy 🙂

I mailed out my package for The Lean Green Bean‘s Foodie Pen Pals program for October! I’m very excited to see how Heather likes what I’ve sent her. I might be even more excited to see what Tabitha is mailing me. Since Heather doesn’t have a blog, we’re discussing the idea of her doing a guest post on here!

Speaking of guest posts, I’m going to be a featured Jetsetter for one of the upcoming weeks on The Lazy Travelers! Very, very honored. I’ll give you all a link to the post once it’s up.

I actually have free weekends for the next few weekends, so I’m going to hunker down and get crafting! I have a few ideas for around the home and a couple for the upcoming holiday and birthday season. Obviously, I’ll also be scanning other DIY and craft blogs that I follow and I’ll likely hit up Pinterest for some ideas, too! Assuming they turn out somewhat attractive, I’ll post them up soon.

Peanut Butter Kiss Cookies

First, I’d like to start off with a Giant congratulations to the San Francisco Giants (see what I did there?) for not only winning the NLDS to advance to the NLCS today, but also for being the first National League team to rally from down 0-2 in the Division Series to win it! To give you an image as to how excited I am that this happened, I was listening to the game online while at work, and when Romo threw the third strike, I was fist pumping and silent screaming at my desk. I probably looked crazy. Okay, I’ll stop boasting about my Giants.

A while back I made 1, 2, 3 Cookies and mentioned that I combined the traditional 1, 2, 3 Cookie recipe with that of my peanut butter kiss cookies. It’s been a while since I made PBKCs, so I decided to make them on Monday night. Now, I’m finally getting around to posting up that recipe!

Memories of Prague: Oktoberfest

This Sunday marks the end of Oktoberfest 2012 in Munich. What a sad time for beer drinkers around the world. I’m sure the countdown for 2013’s Oktoberfest will begin Monday morning once the hangovers have subsided.

Okay, so the title of this is a bit of a misnomer. But here’s the technicality: I never would have gone to Oktoberfest in Munich, had I not been studying abroad.. Ergo, it’s a memory from a portion of my Prague trip. Following me still?

Sigh. Oktoberfest in Munich. Where to begin?
