Mmm.. Beer. Homer Simpson would be proud. I’ve been a fan of beer for quite a while. My love for the stuff only grew when I moved to the home of Sierra Nevada Brewery (Chico) for school, jetted off to Prague for a semester, and then visited Munich for Oktoberfest (the legit one). Talk about getting fabulous beer straight from the source(s)!

I’m sure you’re well aware of my love for all things baking (Hello, way more baking posts than crafts or travel!). Over the past few weeks, I have been so busy with wedding-related events, birthday-related events, and visitors/visiting, that I haven’t been able to play in the kitchen! I had to make up for it somehow, right? So when I had absolutely no plans last weekend, I went a little bake crazy… First I made brownie bites. They were from the box, so I won’t be posting them. I may or may not have served them warm with vanilla ice cream and strawberry sauce (hint: I did). And then I made this Frozen Peppermint Pie. While that was firming up, I made Dark Stout Chocolate Cupcakes. You’ll read about that in my next post, though. Onward to the Frozen Peppermint Pie!
Limoncello Poppy Seed Cupcakes. I get excited just writing the name. Mmm. Remember that post about the present Emily got me for my birthday? You know, the one that mentioned Intoxicated Cupcakes: 41 Tipsy Treats, by Kate Legere? Well, I couldn’t have let it slip my mind because it combines two seriously fun things: cupcakes and cocktails. While these didn’t turn out like I’d imagined, they are different and in a good way!
Sorry I didn’t post this last week; I was a busy lady! Not only was it the 4th of July, but Charise got married and I was the maid of honor! So up to Chico I went to help her with whatever last minute details she needed help with.
But back to something that you
should might find exciting. I was finally craftier than usual: I made a present for Mel! She is moving from down undahh to the land of stars, stripes, and bald eagles this week and I wanted to bring her something to decorate her new house with. I’ll be bringing it to her when I visit and help her get acquainted with the greater Chicago area.
